ARF is deeply saddened to share the passing of Dr. Lewis Berman, a devoted advocate for animals and a cherished member of the ARF family. Dr. Berman was a longtime ARF Board member, serving from 1999 through 2024, and for more than a decade he held the role of Executive Vice President.
A beloved veterinarian, Jack Russell Terrier enthusiast, and founder of Park East Animal Hospital in New York City, Dr. Berman dedicated his life to caring for animals and the people who loved them. In 2011, ARF proudly honored him at the Beach Ball in recognition of his outstanding veterinary practice and lifelong service to the animal welfare community.
Dr. Berman was a special man whose compassion, wisdom, and generosity touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy of care and commitment to animals will continue to inspire us all.
