This Valentine’s Day, love was truly in the air. On February 14 at the Adoption Center there was a very special kind of love for a very special dog.
Sulu, one of a large litter of puppies we referred to as our “Star Trek” pups, was the only one left from his litter yet to be adopted. A family who had previously adopted from us saw him on our website and were eager to meet him. Before that could be arranged, Sulu had a series of seizures. Our medical team had him evaluated by a specialist and sadly, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. His prognosis is grim.
Like most puppies, Sulu is a happy, playful and affectionate boy. His seizures are controlled by medication and while his time may be short, his spirit is strong. Our Adoption Coordinator Heather informed the family that Sulu’s condition was fatal. After discussion with our vets, they made the decision to take him home and give him the best life he can have for as long as he has left.
On Valentine’s Day, Sulu met his new dad and canine sister and went home to meet the rest of his new family. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for this most amazing family for giving him the gift of unconditional love. Good life sweet Sulu, your ARF family loves you.
