Operation Cat Back in Action

ARF’s Operation Cat (Op Cat) Program hit the streets in January with ARF’s new staff veterinarian, Dr. Alexander Koenegstein, who joins Medical Director Dr. Christine Asaro. In addition to providing spay/neuter surgery to homeless, feral and stray cats in East Hampton and Southampton, ARF’s mobile surgical van makes weekly trips to the Town of Brookhaven, where volunteer trappers bring cats for surgery. Already, ARF has treated more than 100 cats this year, helping to keep populations from growing exponentially and preventing the needless suffering of hundreds of kittens each year through this proven trap/neuter/return strategy (TNR).

Thank you to all our Op Cat volunteers who, for over 20 years, have allowed us to help more than 27,000 cats in our community!
