Calling all volunteers! ARF is offering a unique opportunity to work with dogs that you may otherwise never have had the chance to meet at ARF. Our animal behaviorist, Dr. Barbara Pezzinate is now leading a Social Skills Training class for resident ARF dogs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. This exciting new program will focus on some of ARF’s less well-known long timers, many of which have previously been relegated as “staff only” dogs. While our shelter is a safe and loving sanctuary, these dogs have been disadvantaged by their rough pasts, behavioral problems and or fear of strangers, and as a result haven’t had the benefit of meeting many new faces. This class aims to enrich these dogs’ lives by providing opportunities for socialization and basic obedience, all the while getting them used to new people and making them more adoptable in the process. If you’re looking for a new way to get involved and help our true “underdogs”, contact volunteer coordinator Jake Kommer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
