DIAMOND IN THE RUFF: Rex is a hound mix with a big heart and a lot of love to give — once he feels safe. He’s had a tough start to life and is currently working through some deep anxiety, especially around new people. Rex is looking for an adult-only home, where he can get comfortable in his new surroundings without many distractions. Rex is currently on medications to help manage his anxiety, and he’ll need a patient adopter who’s willing to go slow and give him time to build trust. It may take several meet-and-greets before Rex feels comfortable — but once he knows you, his goofy, affectionate personality shines! He’s a total ham who loves snuggling on the couch, napping in your lap, and playing with his favorite toys. Rex would thrive in a calm, low-traffic home with someone experienced in handling shy or reactive dogs. He’s not the kind of dog who’ll love everyone right away — but if you give him the chance, he’ll become your most loyal and loving companion.
