The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons mourns the loss of our dear friend and long-term board member, Barbara Slifka. Barbara’s decades of dedication to ARF shaped the very heart of our organization. Through her leadership, generosity, and unwavering love for animals, she helped ARF grow into the haven it is today.
Barbara was always there when ARF needed her — supporting every capital campaign, including the building of our forever home, and stepping up time and again with grace and compassion. She served as Secretary of the Board for many years and was most recently honored as Secretary Emerita. Her impact extended far beyond the boardroom, as she opened her home and her heart by hosting and attending countless ARF events. From co-chairing the ARF Garden Tour to walking proudly in our Stroll to the Sea, one of her favorite events, Barbara gave so much of herself to the mission we all share.
Barbara Slifka was a truly special soul — a generous, thoughtful, and deeply kind person whose legacy will live on in the lives of the animals she helped save. We will miss her dearly, and we are thankful for her many years of service and for her big, beautiful heart.
