We love volunteers! Even one hour a week will help make a difference in the life of a homeless animal. Please stop by the Adoption Center to fill out a volunteer application. Volunteers must be 18 years old. Here are some of the volunteer opportunities available:

ARF is desperately seeking volunteers to walk dogs. Volunteers are needed every day to walk our resident dogs! Talk about rewarding work…If you have any time to spare to give to the animals, we promise you will get just as much out of it as they do.

Shy Dog Socialization Program

This is NOT a dog walking program; volunteers will interact with the shy ARF dogs to help them get more comfortable around people. Classes are held on  Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 PM and Fridays at 2:15 PM at the ARF Adoption Center in East Hampton. ARF’s Shy Dog Socialization Program is designed to socialize these dogs with unfamiliar people and objects en masse. With the help of a highly social dog, taking advantage of aspects of social learning theory, and the use a small amount of training, more of ARF’s “shy” dogs can be socialized at once, helping them progress faster to suitability for adoption.

NEEDED: DOG WALKERS AT 9 AM & 2:45 PM DAILY

to walk dogs housed in the incoming quarantine areas. You must attend a short orientation meeting before you can participate.
